Scott Holt is an American blues-rock guitarist, singer and songwriter known for his decade-long tenure with blues legend Buddy Guy and his current role as lead singer and guitarist for Foghat.

With a career built on blues, rock & roll and thousands of miles on the road, Holt is exactly the kind of working musician Red Monkey guitar straps are built for.

Buddy Guy

From Buddy Guy to the World Stage

Scott Holt began one of the defining chapters of his career at just 19 years old when he joined legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy as his second guitarist.

Holt spent approximately a decade touring with Guy, traveling the world and sharing stages with artists including Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana.

He also contributed to Buddy Guy's GRAMMY-winning album Slippin' In, while developing his own reputation as a fiery guitarist, soulful vocalist and compelling live performer.

Beyond his years with Buddy Guy, Holt has released seven solo albums and built a career firmly rooted in American blues and rock & roll.

Foghat

Scott Holt and Foghat

Holt's relationship with Foghat began well before he officially became a member of the band.

After writing and recording with members of Foghat and working alongside drummer Roger Earl in Earl & The Agitators, Holt co-wrote and performed on Foghat's 2016 album Under the Influence.

When longtime singer Charlie Huhn retired in 2022, Holt stepped into the role of Foghat's permanent lead singer and guitarist.

His blues background helped bring the band full circle to the blues-rock roots that originally shaped Foghat's sound, while his chemistry with guitarist Bryan Bassett helped define the band's current era.

The lineup recorded the 2023 studio album Sonic Mojo, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues chart and remained in the Top 10 for 34 weeks.
